BIOGRAPHY OF ATTORNEY ERIC E. OSTLING
Eric E. Ostling is the Managing Attorney of the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly's Sacramento office location. Mr. Ostling earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of California, Davis, before attending the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate Degree. Not being satisfied with a Juris Doctorate Degree, Mr. Ostling continued and obtained his Master of Law and Taxation, Degree also from the University of the Pacific.
Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in 2007, Mr. Ostling obtained many years of experience in litigating both civil and workers' compensation issues before various Northern California Superior Courts as well as the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB). As a result of this litigation experience, Mr. Ostling brings with him a breadth of knowledge on subrogation and civil litigation matters to supplement his ability to represent the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly's clients before the WCAB.
Currently, Mr. Ostling represents employers, insurance entities, self-insured entities and third party administrators before the WCAB on standard workers' compensation defense, subrogation, §132(a) discrimination claims and serious and willful misconduct allegations.
Mr. Ostling also has a published article in the Pacific Law Journal. |

DENNIS W. BEATON

BIOGRAPHY
Dennis Beaton is a Paralegal with Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our Sacramento office. Dennis has over 35 years of workers’ compensation claims experience.
He began his career in 1973 with Industrial Indemnity Insurance Company in Los Angeles, CA and has held positions as Vice President, Claims for several companies. Dennis has seven years of legal experience as a Paralegal and provides invaluable expertise in the claims administration procedures and claims aspects of files.
Dennis has helped several insurance companies and third party administrators go through the State Audit procedure. He is available to assist any office in training issues pertaining to claims handling or in assisting in a State Audit. |

Johnnie B. Beer, Jr. is an associate with the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP in our firm's Sacramento office location. Mr. Beer earned his Undergraduate Degree from the University of California, Davis, before moving on to obtain his Juris Doctorate Degree at McGeorge School of Law.
Prior to joining the Law Offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly in 2006, Mr. Beer had a number of years of workers' compensation defense litigation experience and also worked for the California Department of Food & Agriculture as counsel.
Mr. Beer currently represents third party administrators, insurance companies, self-insured entities and employers in all aspects of workers' compensation defense before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) including standard workers' compensation defense as well as §132(a) discrimination claims and serious and willful misconduct allegations. |

ROGER A. CARTOZIAN

BIOGRAPHY OF ATTORNEY ROGER A. CARTOZIAN
After finishing Law School in 1975, Mr. Cartozian began in private practice as a General Practitioner for a period of about 10 years in the Sacramento area. Areas of practice at that time included family law, adoptions, criminal defense, Bankruptcy, personal injury, corporate and business transactions, juvenile matters, wills, probate, collections, mechanics liens, etc. In 1985 he became associated with Industrial Indemnity - House Counsel and focused his concentration on the defense of workers compensation claims, workers compensation subrogation, defense of §132(a) and Serious and Willful Misconduct claims. After 10 years he opened his private practice with a partner and continued the same type work. From 1997 to 2007 he was associated with and became a partner with the workers compensation defense law firm of Gray & Prouty. Mr. Cartozian has been with the FS&K law firm since October 2007.
Mr. Cartozian thus brings with him a 10 year general practice background and over 27 years of workers compensation defense experience where his clients have included insurance companies, third party administrators, private employers, school districts, and public agencies. He has made presentations on a variety of topics in the workers compensation arena to groups of varying size and experience.
Mr. Cartozian is licensed to practice before all state Courts of the State of California, has appeared at most of the Workers Compensation Appeals Board District Offices in California, and in June 2005 was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. |

BIOGRAPHY OF ATTORNEY BERNADETTE M. O'BRIEN
Professional Experience: Bernadette M. O'Brien is managing attorney of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly LLP's employment law department. She provides advice and counsel to employers in employment related matters such as claims for discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, leave of absence policies and procedures, privacy issues, and employee handbook development and implementation. In order to help employers understand and comply with the law, Ms. O'Brien conducts employment law related seminars and training sessions throughout California. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Davis before attending law school at Lincoln Law School of Sacramento, where she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree, graduating as class valedictorian. Prior to Ms. O'Brien's association with Floyd, Skeren & Kelly LLP, she practiced civil litigation representing both plaintiffs and defendants in numerous areas of law including personal injury and business related matters.
Publications: Author of LexisNexis publication Labor and Employment in California: A Guide to Employment Laws, Regulations and Practices, which has been in publication since 1992. The treatise is an easy-to-understand overview of the key topics in labor and employment law as governed by both federal and California law, including hiring, termination, wage and hour, the Family and Medical Leave Act, employee privacy, drug testing, sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Co-author of online edition of California Unemployment Insurance and Disability Compensation Programs, a treatise on California unemployment insurance laws. Editor of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly, LLP's employment related website (fskemploymentlaw.com), which provides daily employment law updates and the latest news related to employment law.
